WHO WE ARE

Quercus (a genus of trees, both evergreen, like the cork and holm-oak, and deciduous, like the common oak) are trees of great longevity and beauty, characterized by their adaptation to their environment and their contribution to improving it.

The Quercus forest known as “dehesa”, is a vivid example of how humans can, if they wish,  improve their environment and generate a sustainable system to be passed on to future generations.

The principles of “País de Quercus” are:

Imagination
Honesty
Common Sense
and Respect for Nature.

This philosophy has been promoted since the year 2000 by “ País de Quercus”, an association of breeders who love the dehesa , which aims to put all the products obtained from this natural paradise of Extremadura and other parts of the south-western Iberian peninsula on the market.

IBERIAN ACORN-FED PORK MEATS

In the meadows in the southwest of the Iberian peninsula, lives the Iberian pig. It is the only breed of pig in Europe that can live wild. The pigs live in total freedom
feeding on acorns and that process makes their meat acquire unique and special organoleptic qualities, making them high in MUFA, especially oleic acid. The content of this acid in olive oil (65-70%)  is well-known, as it is in avocado, but its presence in iberian acorn-fed pork (58-65%) is not so well-known.

If the Iberian pig is bred freely on the dehesa and fed on acorns and grass, it turns into a walking olive.
